Category: Audio software Category: MidiQ: Dissolve by sum in dplyr? In the following dataframe I would like to dissolve by the sum of the Values variable. If I use the group_by and summarise I get one row for each ID with the sum of the values for that ID. > head(DF) ID Value 1 1 4 2 1 3 3 1 2 4 2 4 5 2 2 6 2 1 To dissolve to one row per ID with a sum of Value. I have tried the following, however this returns a dataframe of 1 row for every ID instead of one row per ID with a sum of the Value. library(dplyr) DF %>% group_by(ID) %>% summarise(sumValue = sum(Value)) Also tried this but again I get a dataframe with each ID having a sum of Value. DF %>% group_by(ID) %>% summarise(sumValue = sum(Value)) %>% ungroup() Any help appreciated. A: This will give you what you want library(dplyr) DF %>% group_by(ID) %>% summarise(sumValue = sum(Value)) #Source: local data frame [1 x 2] #Groups: ID # ID sumValue #
